DETROIT, MI. The 1st Annual Adidas State Wide Basketball League was a huge success with over 50 of the top travel basketball teams/clubs in the state of Michigan competing during the month of March 2012. The league, the first of its kind, brought elite boys teams from across the state to three locations over six weeks to determine a state champion. Here are a few of the teams that competed in 2012-Grand Rapids Storm, Detroit Elite, Brothers Keeper, Grand Rapids Warriors, JDIA, Detroit Heat, Michigan BBC Select, TEAM Basketball, Common Bond, Grand Rapids Force and more…
The Adidas State Wide League gives the best clubs within the state an opportunity to play each other outside the typical three to five game tournament structure. The competition moves each week to centrally located sites, giving family and friends an opportunity to see these elite teams play without having to travel out-of-state. “Great teams want great competition and that historically has meant overnight travel every weekend during the season. This league is designed to concentrate the competition and reduce the wear and tear on the players and their families. It isn’t that often that you see people starting with the players and working forward”, said Stephen Benard-League Director.
